I’ve talked previously about some of the trials and tribulations of opening up a craft brewery in the Wichita. That being said, the real challenges lie ahead of us.
We are currently closing in on finishing out financing for the equipment and working capital for the new Wichita brew pub location selected for Augustino Brewing Company. We have also begun engaging Studium Architecture, the local experts on design and architecture for breweries, not only in the Wichita area but also in the region. Once we have final structural design, we will be able to begin demolition for the new Wichita brew pub location for Augustino Brewing Company.
Our team is very excited to bring you great coffee and beer first to our friends on the west side of Wichita and eventually beyond. We strongly believe in being Neighborhood Brewed. What this means to us is that the beer that you are drinking at Augustino Brewing Company is actually made at Augustino Brewing Company and not at another location. We believe that the best beer and the freshest beer is that which is made as close to possible to where it’s consumed. Even as we grow, our intention is to always be producing beers in-house for consumption.
So, who’s thirsty?
Unfortunately, we are unable to announce or promote any public opportunities to sample our products before we are open for business and have our manufacturing licensing as well as liquor licensing. However, our friends and Augustino Brewing Founders will be notified over the coming months of our progress and we would like to find it least a couple of times over the course of the next several months to invite you over for an open house and tour of Augustino Brewing Company.
Another opportunity to find out more about what we are doing it Augustino Brewing Company is to come out to see us at the LaunchPrep on May 18 from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM. We will be presenting about the new Wichita brew pub location selected for Augustino Brewing Company as well as having a booth set up with more information about what we are doing and giving you a little bit more insight on to our future plans. This event will be located at the Experiential Engineering Building at Wichita State University. We love to see you and are looking forward to this event.
You should start to see a little bit of activity at our location later this month, as we begin demolition on the space to prepare for buildout. The good news for us is that are expected buildout is relatively straightforward. The space that we selected, which is part of the reason why we selected it, is a second-generation restaurant space. It has almost a seemingly massive kitchen and back area that suits what we are trying to do in terms of both food as well as coffee and beer production quite nicely as considerable storage space is required for beer production in particular.
Speaking of making beer, we will also be placing our order for our brewhouse in the very near future. There is a fairly significant lead time on shipping and installation, but we are optimistic that it will be delivered, installed and fully tested in time for your thirsty palates.
As we move into the summer months the active buildout will begin to transpire and the space will start to look much more like what we’re trying to aim for with it. By late summer to early fall, we will hopefully have most everything completed, including a newly assembled bar space and most if not all of our kitchen and furnishings in place.
While we have not yet figured out exactly how we want to decorate our walls, we would like to integrate both traditional barware signage with local artwork. Of course this is all just a little bit of speculation on our parts as some of these answers will present themselves as they go along.
Next, getting in some of the amenities of the new Wichita brew pub location selected for Augustino Brewing Company; in addition to a separate bar and restaurant space, which we consider a hallmark of our branding, we will also have a small private dining space available for reservation. We expect that this is going to be great for those of you who want to throw small party for a birthday or other event. This space will hold up to approximately 20 people and will also have its own multimedia in place in the event that you want to bring out your office for retreat and present within the space. This is one of the items that we didn’t initially expect to be offering that we are glad they were able to offer. Furthermore, it’s an interesting tie between my experiences at Wichita State University working for over a decade with the technology equipment we have in place here to applying some of those ideas to our brewery.
Finally, I want to take a moment to think those of you who have been following us for a very long time and very patiently as we have tried to get to this point. Many of you have asked what you can do to help out. The best thing that you can do for us is to help get the word out to as many of your friends and family members as possible. By sharing our articles, podcasts, and promotions over the coming months as we get closer to opening our doors, you provide the needed fuel we need to open strongly and become and sustain momentum in the local brewing market.
Stay tuned, the best is yet to come.
